Pleiospilos nelii, commonly known as Split Rock, is a rare and fascinating succulent native to South Africa. Its thick, rounded leaves are split down the centre, giving the appearance of a small, smooth rock — a clever adaptation for survival in its natural habitat. This compact species is beloved by collectors for its unique shape, low maintenance, and stunning flowers.

In spring or autumn, Pleiospilos nelii produces large, daisy-like orange or yellow blooms that emerge from the central fissure, creating a striking contrast against its stone-like foliage. It’s an excellent choice for succulent arrangements, minimalist décor, or rock gardens where its natural camouflage truly shines.

Key Features:

  • Distinctive “split rock” shape and smooth, speckled leaves

  • Produces large, vivid orange-yellow flowers

  • Compact and ideal for small pots or dish gardens

  • Extremely drought-tolerant and easy to care for

  • Perfect for collectors of rare or unusual succulents

Care Tips:

  • Light: Prefers bright, direct sunlight; a sunny windowsill is ideal.

  • Water: Water sparingly — only when the soil is completely dry. Avoid watering during dormancy or leaf-shedding.

  • Soil: Use a gritty, fast-draining cactus or succulent mix.

  • Temperature: Thrives in warm, dry conditions; protect from frost.

  • Fertiliser: Feed lightly in the growing season (spring–summer) with diluted succulent fertiliser.

The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 80mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.

Beautiful planner, with plenty of room to make notes, appointments, etc. Lays flat and stays open. Lots of unusual facts, quotes, blessings, etc. I love this planner!

I will buy this planner every year!
Format: Book Supplement
I had a 2025 Old Farmers Almanac Planner and loved it. I had to get the 2026. This planner is perfect for me. Shows the month at a glance, but then has the day pages where you can put plenty of notes!

A nice themed planner
Format: Book Supplement
Not a garden/farming planner. Just a regular planner with some Old Farmers Almanac rubbed on it. Really well made and nice looking but not really super special or helpful for farming or gardening.
